Parish President Hotard welcomed attendees, and expressed her excitement for the festival’s return in 2022. “It has been an unprecedented two years filled with many challenges and although Hurricane Ida recovery is still ongoing, we look forward to coming together on this weekend to celebrate great food, rides, music and more,” said Parish President Hotard.
Iman Montgomery spoke on behalf of Marathon and acknowledged their continued support as presenting sponsor and community partner. President Hotard then offered background information on this year’s poster artist, Karin Douroux, long-time Art Instructor and St. John resident. When creating this design, Karin wanted to “use imagery that reflected on things that represent St. John Parish & Andouille…the smokehouse, sugar cane, and the music of the festival with the focal point being a still life of the elements that go into making that first yummy pot of gumbo.” She also drew inspiration from the kids of St. John Parish and her many years of teaching art.
Posters order forms are now available at www.andouillefestival.com or at the St. John the Baptist Parish Government Complex. Follow the Andouille Festival – St. John the Baptist Parish on Facebook and Instagram for updates. ###
